SMS Opt-In

This page shows exactly how The Quiet Critic collects consent for text messages, so it can be reviewed without subscribing. The Quiet Critic is operated by Cook and Company Coaching Inc.

Where opt-in happens

Text messages are a separate, optional step that happens after someone has already subscribed by email. The signup form at thequietcritic.com asks for an email address only and never asks for a phone number. A subscriber who wants the nightly link by text enters their own mobile number and ticks an unchecked consent box on their practice page.

Consent is never pre-ticked, never bundled with another agreement, and is not a condition of anything — the entire practice is free and is delivered by email whether or not a number is ever given. The number is always the subscriber’s own; we never accept, upload, or purchase third-party lists.

The form asks for three things: the email address they subscribed with, their mobile number, and the ticked consent box. All three are required — a submission without the box ticked is rejected outright rather than treated as agreement.

What we record

Each opt-in is stored with the email address, the mobile number in E.164 form, the date and time of consent, the IP address and browser it came from, and the exact consent wording shown at the moment of agreement — so what was agreed to can always be produced, not merely asserted.

What subscribers receive

One short message per night containing a link to that night’s guided practice recording. Nothing else — no marketing, no third-party offers.
